Rugged and dependable. Holds 7 rounds total (18" barrel). Quick and very well balanced. The R3 recoil pad is the SOFTEST I have ever felt. Many many aftermarket parts available. Blows HUGE holes in bad guys. Very solid feel to the weapon--you could use it as a club in close-quarters, if needed.
Lacking ghost-ring sights. You would think a true tactical shotgun would have them included. Most (good) aftermarket sights require drilling and tapping the receiver even though this 1100 has factory drilled and tapped screw holes, which are for a Weaver-style scope base (also not included). -1 point
The magazine extension clamp with built-in sling stud blocks the "high noon" part of the beam from my forend-mounted Surefire light. -1 point
Perfect for home defence.
The action is not as buttery smooth as a Benelli but they look and handle very close to the same. For the money, the 1100 Remington Tactical cannot be beat and there is no other autoloading shotgun on the planet which enjoys more aftermarket support.
Note that the TAC-4 holds 2 more shells, has 4 more inches of barrel (with ribbing), exchangable choke tubes, but no pistol grip stock. I definately recommend the Remington Model 1100 Tactical to everyone.
