Good Points

Good fuel economy for a 2.0 Petrol, Loads of gadgets, reliable engine, comfortable to drive, good driver position, plenty of boot space, interior spacious, good performance for a family car.


Bad Points

Heavy car, wallowly around turns, acceration not consistant, should have had rear disk brakes. sticky fuel cap, no space whatsoever in the engine bay to fix work on it yourself.


General Comments

I recently bought a 1996 Mondeo Si 2.0 for £800 6 months tax, 12 months MOT. I love the car, it's got good performance for how heavy it is. However, the acceration was laggy and inconsistant through the rev range, even after a new air filter, new fuel filter and injection clean. I remedied this by removing the factory fit airbox and replaced it with a K&N cone filter, using the factory fit cold air intake. Now it's punchy from 1,000 and consistant through to 6,000 revs with no lag what-so-ever. A pleasure to drive, especially on long journeys.
