General Comments

I bought the Nokia 6510 phone recently from the leading cellular network in my country at a very good price (40% lesser when it was first introduced in the market) with a seal still intact and with an aroma of fresh from the factory. In fact there are many Nokia non-color handsets to choose from at a lower price but I picked this one from the rest 'coz it really appeals me. Obviously, the company is quite in a hurry to dispose this kind of phones from their inventory. Well, color phones had been selling like hotcakes since 1st quarter of this year leaving behind non-color phones from a good distance. But anyway it's a matter of individual's choice and how useful the phone for him/her.
But unfortunately no picture and tone composer in this phone. Messaging is limited to 160 characters only. I don't blame Nokia, for its small size, the circuit board can not accomodate extra chips for this added features. Though it's a business phone but Nokia, intentionally perhaps, did not produce this as tri-band phone. If all these features had been added, it's really a big bang phone. Covers are more stable than the 8310. SIM slot location was not carefully considered by Nokia whereas if you are a careless person, when changing SIM card, you could snap off the battery terminal easily and could cost you dearly for parts replacement. I don't know if Nokia is really on real big bucks from after sales services than phone purchases itself.
The only thing that's so irritating in this phone is the wallet feature. I don't know if it's the design of this feature or just having a plain bugs in it. The first time I opened this feature it prompts me to enter the new wallet code (it confirms the instruction in the user manual) and eventually punched my secret code. Well it made me happy and stored my bank codes and other sensitive informations. Days passed and I again accessed this feature to add another information. To my horror the feature kept screaming "wrong code entered" though I'm definitely sure I entered the correct code. Many times I tried but the same response. In my frustration I again read the user manual and fortunately Nokia is kind enough to provide the code number that would enable to reset the feature (perhaps they have anticipated this problem). But the saddest part of it is that it will erase all the data and information you have entered once you've executed this action! All your efforts and time will be thrown out of the window. I don't know but I seem to have rectified the problem. I realized that when I switched the speech codec to HR, FR, or EFR or changed my depleted battery with my extra full charged battery it will somehow affect the feature. It could no longer recognize the secret code I programmed before. But it should not be like this. A phone should be stable regardless of changing the battery or switching the speech codec if necessary whereas I travelled a lot to remote places and the reception varies at certain areas and no power source most of the time to recharge. Only one thing I am certain, it has bugs. Nokia people are not so helpful, as usual, and lacks technical knowledge to give you some light of your problems. Luckily I'm resourceful.
Overall the phone is excellent, just forget the wallet. It's a Joker.
