We rented a car in Darwin Australia in Dec 2007. We paid in full. We were advised by the kind customer service person we had 5000 km free. We returned to NZ and 10 days later we found our bank account debited (without authorisation from us) for a further AUD300. We emailed Europcar to investigate this. On first contact Europcar confessed to knowing nothing about the charge, they requested we fax them copies of our bank account, which we did. Then we were told it was due to extra mileage. We advised them of our allocation of 5000 km only to be told there was no 5000km and it was all set out in the contract! We protested, but have heard nothing since. Our advice - don't use them.
