Good Points

I was offered the Black American Express card after being a client since 1969. I had the Green card, then the Gold card and finally the Platium card. Frankly, I do know that each do really have a limit based on your spending habits etc.
I know the reason for the offer to me was due to the fact that all of my business transactions (I am Chairman of the Board of several corporations) have been charged to my Amex cards. I liked to obtain all the free points etc. I can assure anyone that I do not earn in excess of 10 million dollars but had been charging this amount each year.
So good points, it was nice to be able to feel that one could charge to any amount that I wanted to on the card.


Bad Points

It was on many times, not wanting to use the card as it was really in a way that myself personally that I was showing off at a dinner out with business people when they saw the Black card. For all the good impressions, there was also I know the bad impressions. The oh look at him, he has so much money that he has to have the Black card, He cant be happy with the Platinum card...ect


General Comments

I down graded back to the Platinum card, and frankly a Green card would be just as handy. The only advantage to the Platinum card is not that it has some kind of prestige, but its the airline points that makes me keep this one.

Finally, I don't really care which card I use now, its only a tool to get something paid for without having to carry cash and to be rewarded with free travel points etc. Also, why pay Amex $2,000 for the use of the card when now I pay $125.00.
