Have used Ticketweb on a number of occasions now and have always found them OK.

Booking fee applies as with all vendors of tickets, and while I'm still not sure what makes them charge you; I am willing to pay it if it means guaranteed tickets for a gig so can't really moan.

    re: service charges.
they charge you because, when you call you get somebody answering the phone. which he gets paid to do. along with all the other people who are working to book tickets for you. also if you were to book online, it takes times and people to keep it running and add events onsale to it. all this requires money.

the actual event promoters get the ticketmoney, and ticketweb will get the service charge, which keeps them working. without the service charge ther would be noone to call and no website to book and youd have to go down to the venue to book your tickets in person and join a VERY long queue. but then the venue would need more staff, which means more money todo that, so then the venue would need to put a service charge on top of the ticketprice.

all in all you are being charged for a service that they are providing. say you buy a new exhaust pipe for your car, would you expect a mechanic to fit it for free? nope. he'd charge you for his services. i don't know why it is such a shock when ticketing companies do it.
