General Comments

On the whole....i like my Mitsubishi Carisma 1600..i read critics reviews and cringed !!!!Admitadely..it could be called boring but i checked out some of its competition and to be honest they are realy a bit dated...i think mines different...4 centuries people have mistaken boring with different..apparently they suffer realy bad roll on the bends!!!what rubbish...my last car was a gti and suffered worse on the bends than this one does...so get lost to the uniform conformists....give the sub a break !!!!!i bet you are not too good lookin either eh??????

    Hi, Kennyb!

I just got my 1996 Carisma 1.6 auto on the 6th June 09. I agree with you that this is a much maligned car. I might appear a bit boring myself if I venture to say that the appearance appeals to me. Maybe it has something to do with the "Flame Red" colour. However, although the ride is a bit bouncy, (I have previously owned a number of Citroens with special suspension) - I don't get the impression of it falling into potholes with a great bump. The steering lock is great. The power steering is great (although the owner's handbook does warn you not to hold on a hard lock for more 10 seconds for fear of damaging the pump, but the Pajero was the same on this point.) It is a comfortable car, and it is amazingly economical. I have to admit, that it does have a tendency of not liking fast driving on bends, but I take bends slowly anyway. I find it helps if you approach bends smoothly, and then accelerate into the curve - as rally drivers would do. Other than that, I think it is quite a nice drive, and I've had other cars, better known and respected makes and models, which were worse drives than the Carisma. I tend to change cars frequently, but I'm planning on keeping this one as long as possible. I was a professional driver "to trade" (so to speak), so I've not taken to this one lightly. Any one know of a dedicated Carisma club that is still taking members! One mentioned by Honest John is not.)
