General Comments
Making the Humax Duovisio PVR-9200 very silent
The Humax makes a little background noise, which is cause by the fan and the harddisk.
De fan noise can be reduced by mounting a Zalman Fan Mate 2 between the fan and the motherboard (*). Adjust the fan voltage to 9 Volt. The fan noise disappears but now the harddisk noise is audible (only in a quiet room). I have solved this by removing the harddisk and put it on two soft foam peaces from 10 x 1,5 cm, 1 cm thickness. The Humax is completely quite now. I have fixed the harddisk temporary with ropes. Keep the spare parts because of guarantee! Be careful by transporting the Humax because the harddisk is not fixed well now.
Reducing the fan voltage can not harm the Humax
The Humax consumes little power. The power consumption in standby or on state is almost equal (70 mA / 90mA at 230Volt) However in standby the fan is off and the electronic components are not cooled and are much warmer than in the on state. Even if the fan voltage is reduced to 9V the electronic components are much cooler than in standby mode. Thus the Zalman Fan Mate 2 modification can not harm the Humax.
