They actually have branches in my City, pleasant enough staff but unable to actually 'do' anything to help you
Everything else
After having been a personal customer of HSBC for a number of years I should have known better than to try to open a Business account with them, but as I intend to operate (eventually) in foreign countries too, I thought a bank with an international presence would be the best way to go. I have a personal loan with HSBC - no missed/late payments or problems, but I got a joint account at another bank with my fiance when we moved in together, so my salary from my employer is paid into the joint account instead of HSBC. Based on this, HSBC reduced my credit on my credit card to £100 overnight without discussion, and now based on the fact that my salary isn't paid into HSBC they are refusing to open a Business account for me. Straight decline, no discussion, no one to talk to about it. It makes no sense whatsoever. I want to pay them money, I don't want to borrow any. As soon as the loan is finished I am done with HSBC once and for all and I suggest anyone considering an account with them think twice.
