General Comments

After reading many people who had posted on many different internet forums and looking for a good high powered magnum class side cocking rifle I decided to get the Xisco B-21 / Supermax1000 from Funsupply. Like most of the the Chinese made airguns it was necessary to flush out all the storage oils and tear it apart in order to debur it and to tune it. I decided to cut the front sight ramp off which was tacky anyway in my opinion plus it shaved off 1 1/4 pounds off the gun. I also got the Maccari total tune up package for it. Being able to get this kit says a lot for it for Maccari is very selective about what guns he will make kits for. I did the following to correct somethings I did not like and would suggest others take into consideration too.
1. Braze weld the scope mount onto the maintube for the recoil can work the rivets loose after some time.
2.Replace the pin and e-clip for the cocking arm by drilling it out to 1/4 and get 5/16 - 1/4 sleeve bushing for the cocking arm drill out the place where the pin goes through and put the bushing in the rubber in the cocking arm and use a 1/4 detent pin I used one with a ring so that I can easily pull it out and find it.
3. spray all moving parts and barrel interior with a teflon treatment spray.
4.replace the seal with one from Maccari
5. You may wish to braze weld the cocking arm pivot bracket too.
6. Put sling swivels and a sling on it.
7. Loctite the screws with blue loctite.
I also as with any of the air guns that I bought. I tuned the barrel.

Velocity and shooting behavior

Now on to what you really want to hear about this gun. It will actually shoot about 940 to 955 fps after it settles in. Mine has actually gone supersonic a couple times on a regular basis. So I can safely say mine is shooting roughly high 900s all the time. The gun does have a strong recoil it feels like shooting a 22 magnum but in reverse and do not use anything less the Magnum rated air gun scopes. When I said that it is predictable I was refering to how the accuracy is if you know how to shoot a springer. Springers are difficult to get a true picture unless you have the special equipment to work with. I was able to get the gun sighted in at 60 yards with 10 shots. Scope was set a 6 in high of bullseye when I started shooting ( with a used scoped that I bought for it) with just lowering the POI on the scope it brought it down almost in a straight line 1/2 variance on the way down due more to me and the trigger then the gun. The amount of power is very good it was putting small 1/8th inch deep divots in concrete at 60 yards. So I know it will take down a rabbit or squirrel at that range. I used only Crosman CPL and Pointed pellets with this gun. So I do not know how it will shoot with other pellets.

Economic consideration

Another issue that many people forget is the ability to repair or get support for their gun. And even email someone to get help with your problems.

You are able to get replacement parts from Xisco. I am looking forward to next spring and go do some hunting with it. So if you are like I am which is on tight budget and want a workhorse of a gun which is not the greatest but is very good air rifle for the money and with some elbow grease will make it into the B(east)21. With the upgrades and little work it is still cheaper then the RWS 48 but you better eat your wheaties and lift some weights to get in shape. But it will be worth it when you go hunting.

Gun ergos

Dont expect it to have the gloss and sheen and fancy stuff from this gun. If you want make it look better that will be up to you. Even with the weight reduction of the barrel it is still a little front heavy but not too bad like it was before. The gun has what you could call a bull barrel. This is good in that it will help keep the gun from bouncing but you have to learn what is the best way to hold it. If you have short finger you may find it a little bit of a stretch to reach the trigger. If you plan on using the original sights I would suggest finding another rear sight that can attach to the scope rail for the rear sight system is not very good and is too far forward. The stock will fit most peoples hands comfortably it has a more rounded edge. One thing I did not about the QB-88 QB 3-1 that I have was the sharp and squareness of the stocks. The stock is a lot better then the Shanghai air guns and is not dipped or layer in laquer to make it look better. The only other gun that comes close is the the QB36-2, TF-99 but it is too over priced(150$) and the velocity drops off to 850 fps and I have not been able to find much aftermarket support or get any assistance from that company.
