Good Points

The good points are a great little gun in a small package. Well made, durable finish on the overall gun, good power for a short range gun. Ease of use balance and handling .

Bad Points

One needs to be carefull not to pull the trigger with the saftey off when the gun is cocked. The barrel will slam back onto your fingers and you may distort the trueness of the barrel.

The gun is small. Will / is easy to point and shoot. WARNING. SO KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU HAVE YOUR TARGET SIGHTED AND ARE READY TO SHOOT. AVOID ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE.

General Comments

What a great little pistol! I've had mine since 1982 and it has held up well.
It is about the size of a Colt 1911 type pistol. In this little package is a lot of fun. The grips are anatomically the right size for any hand, pointing and shooting is natural and fast. Beeman sells aftermarket wooden grips that are more filling for those with larger hands. I use both, it just depends on preference. When I want to have a serious shooting session I use the stock grips, when I want to plink and show off the gun I use the wooden grips.

The pistol will shoot any .177 pellet well. Using lighter pellets like any wadcutter type or the Beeman Lasers will give you better velocity. Heavier pellets have greater knock down potential.

The gun is accurate and effective to about 8 to 9 yards. Anything beyond that is tentative. For this old shooter those are my limits of seeing and hitting my target with the pistol. Accuracy is average to a little better. due to recoil.

Recoil is moderate for the Tempest. Which forces you to take careful aim. In comparison it has more recoil than some of the Co2's or pneumatics on the current market. One does have to "learn" to hold and shoot it properly. Or you'll miss even at close range. I do not advise taking small quarry or pests. There are more humane accurate and powerful tools.

Overall this black beauty will offer hours of plinking fun. It's not a toy! It's a real pellet gun. Proper care and maintenance is a must to keep it's power plant working smoothly. The seals on my pistol are STILL working well. Wow 25 years? Since 1982 I've had my Tempest. I bought it from Dr. Beeman when he and his wife owned thier own shop in San Safael Ca. Webley Scott who still make this design and have not change a thing on it in all these years, I know that there are older designs of this model. I think they called them the Ensign. If I ever see one at a gun show I've got to pick it up.

Webley Scott also make a similat model called the Hurricane with a longer barrel and an extended tang. But the balance on the Tempest is better as is the current day cost.

So if you are thinking of getting one, go right ahead. It will add class and depth to your collection.
