blackwaterman's Review of Prestige Smartplus Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker 6lt
13th Jan 2008
Overall Rating
- Value for money

All stainless steel construction (even trivet & separators), therefore suitable for electric cooker rings of all types. Simple to use and of course excellent food flavour! I don't care about the looks, I just want a flat base for energy efficiency and reduced cooking time!
There are 2 easily-selectable pressure settings.
Bad Points
Confusingly, there seem to be 3 types available. One is all-aluminium, one has only a stainless steel lid (goodness knows why!) and this all-SS variant. If you have an electric cooker, you really should use the all SS type, because aluminium-bodied ones distort with time, making them OK for gas cookers, but inefficient for electric ones.
General Comments
Very confusing trying to obtain a genuine all-stainless steel type. Even Tesco Direct show a picture of one I could swear was all-SS, but it isn't! Lots of other suppliers don't even know either.
The current fad for using a fusible metal safety valve isn't to my favour, I'll just hope Prestige (Meyer Group) maintain their normally decent spares support. I've only resisted 10/10 because I've yet to see how long it lasts!
