Labs are very smart, loving and loyal family pets.
Sometimes too smart and a little stubborn at times.
We were given our first Lab 14 years ago and we knew Labs would be the only type of dog we would ever have again. We currently have an 11 month old chocolate lab named Moose. He was 4 months old when we got him from another family. Surprisingly, he adjusted to a new home quite well. He is very smart and funny. He is good with other dogs and loves attention from anyone who is willing to give it to him. He does get a lot of attention because he is very handsome and personable. He was easily trained and behaves well in public. He is also very energetic and needs quite a bit of exercise. He also needs lots of toys to play with. He can be quite destructive if he is bored. He likes to chew on anything made of plastic. He loves to play in water, even his drinking water. He can be a handful at times. He is too smart for his own good and can be quite stubborn as well. Our first lab was a black lab and in our experience the chocolate lab is a little more hyper, a lot bigger and more clumsy than the black one. But overall, Labs make the best pets. I would have a house full of them if I could!
