Unacceptable known fault


General Comments

My DTR220 unit has an amazing fault whereby, if I am recording anything overnight, it is determined to ask me (at about 3 a.nm.) whether I wish to apply the latest software upgrade (even if I have done that manually before I set up the recording) and THEN, to add to the craziness of this situation, switches itself back to a completely different channel!
Bad enough to lose part of what I was recording but to then record something completely different!!
I have contacted the Philips service desk and they just say 'that's how it is' !
Therefore be warned that any attempt to record a freeview channel overnight is likely to end in failure.
Sainsbury occasional sells units made to their own specification - I had a Mogen STB2014; now replaced by a RED 585-148. These seem somewhat better.
