Good Points
September 2003 Clean well maintained rooms and grounds. Hotel staff was friendly and usually efficient. The "Learn to speak Thai" class was a special treat. I learned enough to help me in haggling with the vendors in Chaweng. The restaurants were very good and reasonably priced. The Japanese restaurant was outstanding. Location in Chaweng is excellent - not right in the middle of the action but close enough.
Bad Points
Slow and expensive internet service. The premium for changing dollars was almost 10%. I had occasional problems with water pressure during showers.
General Comments
I found the hotel to be pretty much as I expected. The only other hotel I had spent any time at on Samui was a 5-star hotel which cost twice as much so my frame of reference was high. The setting of the resort, with numerous gardens and expensive facilities, was very much conducive to relaxing. The hotel did not try to stear you into purchasing expensive services which was refreshing. The staff was very pleasant and was usaully available when needed. I would go back there again.
