Customer service, communication and lack of urgency.
My partner and I got engaged on the 17th July 2007. He bought me an 18ct white gold diamond triliogy ring which was a 1/3 carat. I had worn the ring everyday so it endured everyday wear and tear but as I am also an administrator so i'm not hauling around metal bars etc. On the 19th October 2007 after coming back from the cinema I looked down to my ring to find that a singular diamond had been lost from the triliogy. At this I was distraught as we has no insurance etc but after speaking to a friend who explain it should still be covered under the sales of goods act I wasn't worried about it being repaired free of charge. The next day 20th my partner took the ring into the store and was advised that it needed to be sent off to QC to determine who or what was the fault and that we should hear back within the next 2 wks. It took 3 wks and that was only to be told that they had determined it was accidental damage and we would have to foot the bill for it to be repaired which they are willing to do at cost. To this day it still hasnt been repaired and after going to an independant jeweller who has assessed the so called damage he has advised there is no visible sign of the ring being banged in anyway which EJ report suggest and that he would never have set the stones in the setting they are in. I might add that this jewellers is a reputable goldsmith.
Needless to say we will not be purchasing anything from Ernest Jones again!!
