we bought our goodmans LCD tv and a samsung washing machine from Comet in coatbridge paid cash for this and took the extended warranty for the tv one year and 4 months later the TV had smoke belching out the back of it contacted the services dept on the wed and they had someone out on the Sat who informed us what was wrong with TV by switching it on (and not even opening up the telly) in jargon which i could not make out and that we would have a replacement tv if they could not get the parts for the telly I was told by the engineer to phone mon aft and they would let us know what the outcome was - I did this and was informed by the girl that the parts would be ordered and we would have someone out on x-mas eve a week later although this was inconvenient at least we would have our telly working - or so we thought Comet had not even phoned us to keep us up to date I have had to phone them the day before x-mas eve and surprise we were not getting a call out after a lot of fustration from myself I did not get anywhere with the girl I spoke to infact she was quite patronising and its now the 8th Jan 08 and we are still without a tv out the back of it
To make it worse the next day after the tv went up in smoke the washing machine broke (up to our ankles in water) unfortunately this was not on the extended warranty and thanks to my homecare plan with british gas this is now getting fixed with a payment from them for my incovienence - wonder if comet will follow suit !!!
The Customer Service we encountered was poor - they were not interested that we had no tv for x-mas - when asked what am i supposed to tell my children - that they cant play with the WII they got on x-mas morning the answer was tell them to go and read a book or play a board game - yeah that would go done well
