Good Points

We discovered this Wildlife Centre from local information on a visit to Perth. Auchingarrich is a superb place to visit for all the right reasons. It is located on top of a high hill, with varying terrain and magical views across the valley. Accessed from a rough track, your first view is of Prairy Dogs running all over the place - they are free to roam all over the centre.
The entrance fee is very reasonable and the staff are happy to help with any questions.
This is one of the few parks/zoos we have visited which has a restaurant which is not only reasonable, but provides very good food.
Moving on to the animals, the collection is mostly small mammals, birds and rare breeds with a splendid Wildcat and raccoon section. All are well looked after and in spacious accomodation.

Bad Points

Hilly and steep in places - difficult for wheelchairs or disabled walkers.

General Comments

Not a major wildlife park with large primates or big cats, but certainly well worthy of a visit if only for the experience of prairy dogs at your feet and popping up all over the place. The location is in the territory of Perigrines and Golden Eagles and is a great viewing point for ornithologists. Photographer-friendly in the main.
