Good Points

Amex do not score any good points in my books of late. I have been with Amex nearly 20 years (since 1989), I have gone through the ranks of Green, Gold, Platinum and was one of the very first people in the UK to be invited to have the Centurian Card, some 8 or so years ago.


Bad Points

The customer service in the infancy of the Centurian Card was second to none, now you are treated like you owe them, and I think their attitude stinks.
I spend a lot of time in Asia and I have to ring Amex weekly so I can use their ATM services...It's beyond a joke.
I have just this minute received a phone call from someone at Amex (credit dept) chasing me for £154.00 that was unpaid last month (It has been paid by BACS last week)...But just think about that, after 20 years, 7/8 of which as a "Black" card holder, I spend on average 60-100k sterling per year and they come chasing me for £154.00 pound...They get more from the % they charge the retailers I use!


General Comments

Attitudes within Amex are poor...I had a serious complaint approx a year ago and I was close to cancelling my account...The accounts dept said, "Well Sir, if you choose to cancel, you know you will never be invited back"...Great customer attitude.

In fact, I am beginning to HATE Amex and would advise that the "Black/Centurian" card is no longer a symbol of status or holds you in any higher regard with the Amex Corp...I mean, where are the lovely A4 brochures that were posted monthly with some fantastic offers...

It's just a way to siphon you of your hard earned cash and once they have you obviously you don't want to let it go
