This game is excellent. You can control peoples lives and destroy it, or make it joyous. I am a big fan of all Sims games so I was very excited when I opened it one Christmas. It is really realistic and has good graphics. Also if you get bored with one Sim, or get annoyed with it you can build a new house and Sim as many times as possible, you can also build new neighborhoods. If you have played the first Sims (the Sims) you will know how long that takes to load up, but on this Sims game, it is much quicker.
Can get bored if you put too many money cheats and you might go off the game completely for about 6 months (well thats what happened to me anyway!)
Price around 30-35 ($50, around) but you can get it from amazon from about 23.
Cheats: (just a few to help you on your way)
press control, alt and C for the cheat menu then type:
motherlode=50,000 simoleons
moveobjects on/off= be able to move unmoveable objects
exit=closes cheat window
there are others that i have not listed here.
