Good Points

Nice pool area

Bad Points

Where do I start? Rooms are awful - they are in a dilapidated state and in need of total renovation. Electrical points in many rooms are very dangerous and the plumbing and availability of water for showering is haphazard. The buffet breakfast is worse than prison food. Female staff in particular are surly and unhelpful.

General Comments

I must point out that this was our tenth visit to The Gambia, having previously stayed at such hotels as Senegambia, Kombo Beach, Sunset Beach, Palma Rima etc. We are therefore well used to what to expect from this country and from its generally quite low standards of accommodation when compared to european standards. Mansea Beach Hotel is absolutely far and away the worst hotel we have encountered in either The Gambia or anywhere else in the world (and we have travelled to other "poor" destinations like Goa). If you are considering going to Gambia, please pay a little bit more and go to either Kombo Beach or The Senegambia.

This comment shows exactly what i would have wrote in a review. I couldn't be more disappointed. The rooms I found were awful, often covered in ants. Also very noisy, the last few days i probably had as much sleep as i'd normally get in one night, my room was above the kitchen area and there were people outside every night until about 2am (the bar shuts at 12!) then the same group were outside again at 6.30am making a lot of noise, breakfast is not served until 7.30 so i am unsure of why they were out there so early and being so noisy about it. The shower very rarely worked, and to get to the shower area in the bathroom the door had to be closed, which meant standing on the toilet. When we approached the staff about the noise outside one night (it was the night manager that we spoke to) he ignored our requests four times, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! I will definitely be staying somewhere different if i ever return to The Gambia, although this holiday has put me well off it.

At last someone who depicts an accurate version of what this hotel is really like, quite possibly the worst 'hotel' you can book. How the travel companies continue to offer it in their brochures and portray it as they do is beyond me. The list of unacceptable issues is endless, but for me the final straw was witnessing the room being prepared for the next incoming guests, the beds were made up using our week old sheets !! (assuming they were clean for us when we arrived!!) Give it a miss and stay elsewhere in Koloi.
