Good range of cars, competively priced, and in my view well prepared.
There are many, a complicated and bureaucratic sales process, some poorly trained staff, but busy doing nothing. Delays at every (of the many) steps in the sales process.
Do your homework and there are some very well priced cars, whilst others, Mini's for example are prety much what the main dealers are offering. I phoned up to arrange a test drive, and was given an appointment with the sales manager, on arrival he was 'too busy to see me' and the girl I spoke too couldn't find any of my details, although I had given them over the phone. So we started from scratch, then she found the original details. She said a salesman would be with me in a few minutes. 10 minutes later, I asked when the salesman would be coming, clearly nothing had been done, another 10 minutes of chasing and she gave me the keys for the car 'to have a look over it' with the promise that the salesman would meet me by the car. Further 10 mins, I became stroppy, and disinterested salesman turned up. We went for a short test drive, salesman didn't even introduce himself. The car however was excellent and well priced so we decide to purchase. I was told the car couldn't be collected that day (even though we were paying cash), and would be ready by 5pm the following day, so much for same day collection. The salesman finally became interested and tried to sell me a range of extra insurance products, obviously they get commission on this, but lost interest again when I said no. Then a 15min wait to see the man who takes the deposit, and issues a receipt. He tried to convince me that financing the car would be a good option.
Next day see man at collection desk, he logs I am there, and tells me someone will be with me shortly, I'm dubious, 15mins and 2 coffees later, I'm called to to the desk handed the keys and papers, and sign for the car, then directed to the cashier, take a ticket, wait 20 minutes to pay, go to collection point, 5 guys sat around chatting, papers reviewed and finally the car. In total seven people had delt with the sale, with prolonged waits at each stage, thankfully I didn't have a car to trade in, or need finance, if so I think the frustrations would outweigh the benifits. This company could be so much better if they improved the sales experience, customer service, and assigned 1 person to handle the sales process for you, rather than being passed from pillar to post. So many people must walk away in frustration so it's bad for Car Giants business too.
