Small and lightweight with ample storage capacity for notes and documents. Used as a substitute for a Psion organiser. Web access: good for getting info quick on the move. Can be used as a GPS (not quite gone that far though), rumour has it will take TV broadcasts too but not tried that either.
I use this phone every day, writing extensively, texting, phoning, and using the 'Reminder' feature on the Calendar. Notes are then transferred to another computer seamlessly without any problems.
Nokia PC Suite generally works very well with all contacts transferred into my 'Outlook Express' address book.
Contacts can be organised into groups.
There are a number of features I've never used.
Negligible niggles:
Slow to start, slow to open files, can't open large text or pdf files at all, crashes unexpectedly (battery-remove-and-replace resets it).
Lack of a radio - pity but not critical.
This is so close to perfection I wish they'd made a little extra effort, for example, why does it not come with a proper 'ToDo' Time / Project / Management programme? It doesn't take much.
This is a business machine, not a toy. There are no games, it has no radio, no camera. Audio play-back is very good (recording too), with headphones sound is excellent. The screen is large and clear. The menus logical and straightforward. It synchronises well with laptops & pcs. Bluetooth and infra-red are easy to use. Since buying one over eighteen months ago, I've had almost NO LOSS of data - it has seized up while I was writing, nothing worse than that. For a few pounds I bought a 1GB memory card which works just fine and has ample capacity.
Problems: I found the 'doc' format problematic and save everything as text, no more is needed. I've even designed a 'Power Point' style presentation on it (though this is a bit fiddly). Spreadsheets are a bit awkward to use, I tend to stick to text.
** Most Annoying Anomaly **
Why can I not search my "Contacts List" by Company Name? This one is indeed bizarre. I HAVE TO know the name of the individual if I want to look up a number or e-mail address. Nor can I search by fields such as partial phone number, post code, (even 'Notes') etc. These features, I would have thought, should be par for the course.
NOKIA - keep going, you've got the right idea, just tweak and improve. (No games please! Too distracting.)
