    None at all apart from the easily read mini statement from the Abbey cash machine

    Telephone banking, and general unhelpful staff attitude in the bank


    General Comments

    I have been banking with Abbey National since 1994 with no major issues that couldn't be resolved till now, around April 2007 I decided to cancel my debit card since returning from a holiday in Sri lanka for security reasons I was sent a card never worked and since then I have been backwards and forth with their telephone banking and popping into the local branch numerous times which I lost count now, and each person says something different. Which they have not been able to carry out a simple task of replacing a card which actually works. I have been sent 8 cards since April 2007 which have had faults like suddenly stop working pins not working. The most recent December the 13th I received a slip through the post stating my card is at the bank awaiting collection so I went along yesterday and but to my not so surprise to found out it is not there. She said it has not been delivered yet it may still come or she can cancel the one that never showed and issue another, I said to the cashier that's not good enough, she was unable to comment further I asked to speak to a senor or the manager she went away and said the person only sees customers via appointment basis I explained I'm not applying for a mortgage! These continual bad service that I get from Abbey something which would take just a few mins to check surely. A month ago I was told from a staff member at the branch that some problems will persist for a bout a year due to the fact of a Spanish company buying the bank or having a share in it. But in real terms that's not good enough for a customer its a huge disappointment I have now had enough and decided to close the bank account and move to perhaps Lloyds TSB.
