sound quality
price
none(apart from speaker cable length that may not be suitable to some people)
After selling my technics seperates hi-fi(because i was changing everything to silver),I was looking at the new replacement model sceh790
but did not think the build quality or sound was worth the £500 or so asking price.
After spending weeks in every electrical retailers in my area i narrowed it down to 3 systems,The Denon dm31 £299,Sony cmt cpx1 £199and the Technics micro seperates system schd560 £349.
For pure sound quality alone i would have gone for the technics but it has mahogany speakers and also the side of the seperates is mahogany(my woodwork is all pine !!!!!!!!!).Next was the denon which my girlfriend wanted but the sound quality was not that good for £300 and i still needed to buy a tape deck at £129.
So it had to be the sony which i do not regret(apart from the girlfriend moaning she does not like it!!).For £199 this is the best sound quality you will get in this price range and maybe even up to £500. Sound is very powerfull 2x70 watts excellent bass, seperate bass and treble controls and has good stereo seperation and clarity- it has brought many of my cds "alive".I would highly recommend this to anyone as their first hi-fi or even upgrading for better sound quality. The only downside is the speaker cable length which is ample for me but for some of you who like to put speakers further apart may be a problem, (6 feet approx each speaker and it cannot be extended due to the connectors on the end.
