My wife and I took out a Tesco Annual Travel Insurance policy in May of last year, knowing that we would be going on approx. 3 holidays through the following year. On 30th November we were due to go on a 7 day Caribbean cruise with my sister &brother in law, having paid the remaining £2500 balance of the cruise during the latter part of September. Unfortunately, my sister in law, became very ill and after suddenly being admitted to hospital passed away 3 weeks later, only a week before our holiday was due to commence. We have provided Tesco Travel Insurance with all of the documents they requested, including a copy of the death certificate and they have now sent us an 'access to medical report' form for us to fill out so that my sister-in-law's consultant can fill out a form regarding her medical details. This is utterly ridiculous as we are not LEGALLY allowed to sign for a doctor/consultant to release any one else's medical details, not will her doctor/consultant release any medical details to us or our insurance company as neither my wife or I are her next of kin. Tesco Travel Insurance have finally asked for the impossible, information which we cannot legally attain! We are totally disgusted with them and would not recommend them to anyone.
