We will NEVER use Expedia again! We booked a return flight from Edmonton, Alberta to Tampa, Florida for two adults and two children, ages 8 and 11. Our itinerary said seat assignments for the flight will be given at the ticket counter. We assumed we would be given seats together, travelling with young children. We get to the airport, and have 4 seats, none of which are together on the flights. The airline told us Expedia buys the seats and should have assigned them when we were sold the tickets. They were as disgusted as we were. So an 8 and 11 year old child have to sit alone on their first flight. Luckily the airline staff were helpful, and found some passengers who agreed to change seats so at least the 8 year old didn't have to sit alone. I call Expedia to try and ensure this doesn't happen on the return flight, and I'm told they don't assign seats...apparently, according to the person on the line, they buy random seats located all over the plane, and you get whatever is left available when you arrive at the airline counter. So we had to go direct to the airline and pay $120 extra dollars to ensure we could sit together on the return portion of the trip. So I guess the cheap price might be worth it if you're flying alone and don't care where you sit on the plane, but if that's not the case, I certainly don't recommend Expedia.
