First Direct used to boast that the vast majority of their customers would recommend them to their friends; they seem to have forgotten they need to earn that type of loyalty and assume customers have nowhere else to go.
After 15 years with First Direct their new found determination to levy charges and arrangement fees at the drop of a hat has finally driven me away ? I guess I should have seen the writing on the wall when they arbitrarily decided to compete with banks offering better current account interest rates by not paying any interest at all! Now it seems we are all expected to be thankful we have 1st Accounts not Current Accounts - no doubt with lots of surprising new charges.
Well First Direct, this previously happy and content customer would not recommend you and has found there are lots of perfectly satisfactory alternatives.
