Good Points
I love it! My fourth personal GPS and the best so far. Has proven reliable - Gets me around lots of places I would have struggled with a map and compass. Hackable and I added a datalogging program and mp3 player. No lockups or reboots until I hacked it and still only very occasional. With a RAM mount has been working great on my motorbike too.
Bad Points
Car mount suction cup snapped after about a week but replacement was sent quickly and has been fine. Size and shape is a bit awkward (but I knew that I when I bought it). Some of the menus and features are a bit frustrating (e.g can't turn off auto-zooming, day/night settings sometimes inexplicably reversed). Maps are somewhat dated and have text for street names and esp exit data that is written incorrectly so the spoken version is unintelligible or silly. Stoically refuses to transfer data via my blackberry - even though BB supports this feature.
General Comments
I'm not a VERY early adopter but am still somewhat amazed and disappointed to realize that I can now buy one of these for 1/3 what I paid only 9 months ago. Still, that's the march of technology, not Tomtom's fault I suppose. Some of the newest features like speech recognition are cool but I would rather upgrade to more current maps, a bigger screen and thinner/lighter unit overall. Also, why not make it water resistant - Magellan has a cheaper unit that is waterproof so it's not a cost thing - Would take away from TomTom's ability to charge double for their motorcycle model I guess.
