General Comments

I got this HP ZD7000 a week before ship date and this system
rocks runing unreal 2003 in high rez faster then my desktop running at 2.6Ht 800 fsb with a gig
My laptop is a 3.06Ht with 1 gig of 2 512 sticks of centon after market as hp wants to much for memory upgrades and when instaling xp pro over xp home I had a problem with the usb ports and when i called hp I was answerd in 4 min and he stayed with me for 45 min till my problem was solved
which was my fault as i overlayed xp pro over xp home which trashed the usb drivers even though the OS they said they were working fine

Did you increase the memory on your ZD7000 with (2) 512 sticks of Centon notebook memory model # MEI 512MBLT2700?

  • magnusfl Rank: Sergeant on 25th Nov 2003

I purchased the same laptop and installed XP pro. I am having the same trouble with USB, HP cannot find me a solution, could you email me at gmartinses@sc.rr.com and let me know what the solution was.

the fix for the problem I had was simply deleted the all the usb drivers(go to start, setting, control pannel ,system, hardware device manager

then put in the driver disk that came with the laptop and reboot as the disk works for both xp-home and xp-pro and reinstalled the drivers and it fixed the problem

-- Thanks for your recommendation to buy third party RAM. Centon's RAM price, at their website, is less than half of HP's asking price. Very significant if you need the max of 2 gigabytes of RAM.
-- Centon lists compatible memory for many brands of computers at their website http://www.memory.centon.com/
-- Does anyone know if Centon's online RAM compatibility guide is reliable?
