Good Points

Very pleasing to fire with its very smooth firing action and minimal recoil for a full power rifle. The low noise levels are impressive too.

Consistent accuracy & power performance are delivered as rightfuly expected. The HW98 is beautifully balanced for standing target shooting. The superb adjustable stock gives the perfect scope position for all shooters.
The top build quality build is as reassuring as ever as with all Weihrauch rifles and will leave your shooting buddies green with envy.

Bad Points

The barrel is hard to break, needing a hard tap from the palm of your hand (but the rifle is brand new & will ease off with the bags of use it will get!) A bit weighty, but no more so than any other rifle in this top class (no "tin pot" materials here freinds!)

General Comments

I just bought my HW 98 following the sad demise of my HW 35 (40 years old no less RIP). I find that the rifles fireing action (despite previous comments on this page) is very smooth and not at all harsh. I hope that davidlday finds his rifle eases off with use.

I have shot many springers of late so my comments are balanced & un-biased so when comparing the HW 98 with an Air Arms TX200 I was pleasantly surprised to find the smoothness, low recoil & low noise levels of the Weihrauch out of reach for the TX. In fact, the owner of the TX was the first to point this out.

The rile packs loads of power at the 30-35 yard range with good consistent grouping. I feel that the only limitation to performance here is me!

I will forgive the tough barrel breaking action as the rifle is brand new, plus the rest of the package more than makes up for the necessary use of my muscles!

The 98 is very heavy, this due to the bull barrel. Try fitting a 80 one as I did. Got the best of both top guns.

The hw 98 is an outstanding peace of German workmanship. I found that my 98 is easy to handle due to the fact I changed the barrel to a hw 80 which I had shortened to 12inches and added a logun sound moderater, this made the gun still accurate but easer to handle and gave me the best of both guns lighter and dedly even at 11.9 ftp.
