General Comments

The Olympus Mju-300 Digital Camera is very attractive and this is what gives it a head start over other cameras in its category, saying that its a very capable compact camera with the ever reliable olympus lens,3x optical zoom and at 3.2mp you'll have no trouble printing A4 enlargements, the shots ive taken with natural light are crisp and clear and of a very high standard, for shots needing flash there is a choice of different settings which are easy to access within the digital interface. The lens barrier cover opens & shuts with ease and feels like quality, unlike some other high end digicams where the barrier feels fragile & cheap. The digital interface includes a menu wheel which rotates giving you an option of presets like portrait, landscape etc which can come in handy for quick shots & users who dont like to fiddle with the settings manually. The lens looks diminutive but dont let that put you off,the lens is a very powerful precise piece of equipment with all the quality that you would expect from a market leader, the optical zoom at 3x is about right for this category although i feel a 4x would'nt go amiss! The digital zoom is a waste of time on any optical component yet it is highlighted as a selling point by a lot of manufacturers! don't be fooled by digital zoom,it is a very poor media. There is also a short quick-time movie mode, which is ok,shame it does'nt have any sound! The lithium rechargeable battery supplied with the camera takes a couple of hours to charge and depending on your use of the moniter should last a long time.Overall the olympus mju300 in its metal chassis(waterproof)displays quality and looks expensive, you wont be disappointed.
