General Comments

Got a 2001 VW Golf 1.6 SE automatic and this is a truly awful car. Changing from Japanese to VW was a big mistake. The engine sounds like a diesel, and I feel is underpowered & thirsty. The biggest problem is reliability and build quality; nothing seems to last and is incredibly expensive to replace. Numerous sensors have been replaced, the rear filled with water, the rear coil spring snapped and several other annoyingly minor faults that just shouldn't happen in this day and age. This car is the product of a company that was definitely resting on its laurels. To summarise for me the Golf 1.6SE means overpriced, unreliable and poorly built.
