When things are working, Schiphol is great....
Misery awaits departing passengers when the automated check-in some machines are broken, or when they refuse (for no stated reason) to issue a boarding pass. Long lines for manual checkin, empty checkin desks, insufficient staff. . Long lines for bag drop off. Long lines for security screenning scanning when belts are inoperative. Misery all the way .
Poor staffing of manual-check-in, leads to long lines, lots of stressed out passengers.
Poor resource utilisation - long lines (e.g. 35 minutes queueing on 16/December/2007 between 14:15 and 14:50 for the C-gates security screening. Meanwhile there was no queue at the screening belts for gates D etc, but passengers were not allowed to use the other belts.
