Good Points

Amazing graphics, lighting, night vision/thermal goggles, style gameplay, great game!

Bad Points

Not very many firearms (though you do have defensive weapons), Not good for "run & gun" people.

General Comments

Splinter Cell is a game where you play a CIA operative. You must sneak through the levels, gathering intelligence, and rarely using weapons.
Your main weapons are a suppressed/scoped bullpup assault rifle with a underbarrel launcer of multiple type items, and a Suppressed H&K USP style pistol. This game is different from other game that call themselves "stealth/action", in that you rarely kill, you must not be seen, the story is realistic, the graphics are realistic, the weapons are all real-life prototypes, you have alot stealth moves, you have to really think about how to get past enemies and such obsticales.
The PS2 version is great, but given that it came out on Xbox first, and Xbox has better graphics, I'm sure the Xbox version is better, but I love my PS2 version! :)

Great game.

I agree about the excellent graphics. I have the Xbox version and the graphics are super. I disagree with the general gameplay. I found it really dull. Hardly addictive. I am looking for a buyer for the game. Sneaking around and finding out how to do so is an excellent concept. But in Splinter Cell, it has been taken too far. There is little variation in gameplay and the pace is really too slow. I would prefer something like Tenchu, where you still get to sneak around but get to whack off the opposition when necessary.
