I was told the Mizuno MP-33 irons were developed on the computer and it was discovered that they could take weight from the hosel and redistribute behind the hitting area. This moved the center of gravity to the center of the clubface. Most blades have the center of gravity nearer the hosel because of the weight contained in the hosel. Most people miss the club towards the toe and therefore the weighting on the MP33's helps out greatly on hits towards the toe. The center of gravity is also lower than on most blades and therefore the ball gets up in the air easier. Mizuno has definately improved blades from the old days.
