General Comments

I picked my Falcon FN12 Raptor 8 shot up on saturday second hand and I was stunned that I managed to find it for the price I did. Ok, I went in there thinking I was going to buy a BSA Spitfire, but after handling that (and see a knackered seal on a brand new rifle) and seeing the Raptor, I was sold. I managed to chop 50 quid off the price the guy wanted too, so I am very happy.

The first thing I did was take the rifle to my local dive shop and get a fill. That proved that it took air and that the rifle worked. I then went to my dad's house and proceded to pace out 35 m so that I could see where the zero was.

Using a bench rest and shooting Bisley Superfield, I put out my first magazine. I could not believe what I saw... a 1.5 inch group about 1 inch right and 1 inch down of the bull. The second mag went in and now I had more shots in the same group with a couple of fliers.

A few adjustments later and my third magazine put in a 1 inch group about 0.5 inches down of the bull. A couple of clicks up on my Simmons 3-9x40 and the fourth magazine was taking a 1 inch chunk out of the bull.

This is when I noticed the lack of capacity... For such an accurate rifle, I can only really count on the first four mags being the right power for rabbits at 35 m; The fifth mag started dropping off and the last group was about 2 inches at it's deepest point.

One more thing to add: Even my dad (shoots an HW97k) commented on how quiet it was. I went out this afternoon to see what the bunnies thought of it and even though I was deliberately shooting at the fence posts round the paddocks, they were not too spooked. I can't wait until next weekend!

I now need to go out and get a tank and a fill rig, but I am very happy with my purchase and I look forward to many a rabbit with it.

James

Falcon FN12 Air RifleTest Review
Because the Falcon FN12 is compact, light and the weight is beautiffully balanced, it's quite practical to mount a heavy MagliteŠ on top.
