General Comments
I'm a student and I find the Psion 5mx to be the ideal solution to most of my needs.
As a student money gets tight at times. I bought this just over two years ago and at the time it was ~£350. Now with the drop in the cost of the device it is better value than ever. Running costs are low since you power the device for just under a month under moderate use, using a pair of AA size batteries that you can buy virtually anywhere for next to nothing.
The construction is superb, dropping it from about knee height onto tarmac only resulted in a little chip to the finish but the Psion worked perfectly. About a year into it's use the screen gave up on me, the connection between the computer and the screen must have come loose somehow. Fixing it cost a steep £80 but the service was great.
I wanted to use the Psion to retrieve emails via an infrared connection with my Nokia 7110 phone, however, I could not get the built-in email software to work. The built-in web-browser does not support SSL encryption so you can't buy from Amazon nor access your Hotmail account for example. However, a commercial web-browser is available that does support SSL.
