Good Points

Awesome sounding engine. Good in gear acceleration. Surprisingly economical on the open road. It has so much soul and character. Good basis for mods & tuning.


Bad Points

Too many electrical faults start popping up when the car passes 100000 miles. Extremely thirsty when driven hard. Most of the main electrical parts can cost an arm and a leg.


General Comments

I've owned my golf3 VR6 for almost 2years now with no engine/gearbox hassles. I had to replace most of the major electrical parts though which proved to be quite costly:

HT-Leads
Airflow-Meter
Crank-Angle-Sensor
Coolant-Temp-Sensor
etc....
