I have a 2001 X 2.7 TDI SE+ 5 door, 7 seater in green - It is comfortable ride - excellent view of road from driving position - looks good - go for 2.7 TDI SE+ as it has all the bells and whistles e.g. leather interior etc. For an off-roader its fuel consumption is good too at around 30 MPG obviously less if towing. No problems as yet with reliability and separate manual 4X4 gear changer saves on tyres compared to some permanent 4X4 vehicles. I also like the versatility of the seating arrangement at the rear. The booster seats can fold up or be taken out for extra room. If left in there is still adequate boot space for most needs. Leg room good too. Lights are very good giving wide and long visibility when needed.
Seats are a little on the small side and as I am a big chap I do not feel as well supported around my shoulders. The SE+ has a sun roof which leaves me with slightly less head room than I would like. This is a usual problem for me if a sunroof is fitted to a vehicle. It does not impede my driving of the Terrano but it is worth noting as you would not want to hit a sudden bump at speed and bounce up in your seat as you would get a nasty bump on the swede.
Good all- round off roader with a bit of class. Go for the 2.7 TDI SE+ (higher spec). 3.0 litre engine too expensive to run.
The Terrano 2 is apparently not as fashionable as some others on the market but for me that is part of the reason I bought one! You get a great vehicle for an affordable price.
