No car policy, safe and well designed park. Good range of activities
General cleanliness of accommodation
We went for a midweek break at Centre Parcs, Longleat Forest in December, had a great time.
I have read many negative reviews on the Longleat park, some complaining that it's a holiday park, well guess what - it is (and I'm not sure how you could think otherwise).
The accommodation isn't all that clean or well equipped but these shortcomings are more than made up for when you walk the park. The walks are enjoyable and the overall layout is well designed allowing for days spent strolling around at holiday pace in between swimming or other activities.
The no car policy makes a surprising difference and adds to the feeling of quietness and safety.
The pool is great, we took our 6 month old daughter and so were unable to partake in other activities but the pool was suitable for her and she was well catered for in other regards (baby feeding/changing rooms, food heating facilities etc).
I was pleasantly surprised by the on site shop, the prices are slightly inflated but nowhere near as bad as expected and its well stocked.
My top tips for a good stay would be:
1) If you intend to cook take some basics including salt and pepper, also a set of knives is a must, the ones provided are pretty poor.
2) take some cleaning stuff, cloths and sprays etc, the accommodation will more than likely need a clean.
3) Don't rely on your SatNav to find the place using the postcode, we ended up in the middle of the Longleat House estate.
4) Don't be afraid to raise any concerns/complaints at customer services, ours were dealt with promptly (TV not working and WC needed cleaning).
5) If you're staying in a Comfort villa consider renting the towels, this was a good move for us.
6) Keep the lounge curtains open as much as possible, we had a deer wander past our lounge in the morning (and saw 3 others during our stay).
7) Go there - its a well thought out place and is recommended by us!
