marym's Review of My Offers www.myoffers.co.uk
15th Dec 2007
Overall Rating
Lots of competitions.
Bad Points
Lack of feedback and answers to e-mails; lack of guidance as to whether one can enter competitions more than once; not sure these prizes are real.
General Comments
I have been using this site for about two months. I have been inundated with unsolicited e-mail since using the site. I have had 4 alleged "wins":
1. I entered a competition to win a prize at a Walt Disney Resort, as a result I then received an automated telephone call allegedly from Walt Disney Resorts telling me I had "won a holiday" and I needed to press 7 on my phone's keypad to be put through to a "member of the team" to claim my prize. This phone call, the recorded message said, would be freephone. Stupidly, I pressed 7. I listened to music for a while then the line went dead. It stayed dead. Even when I put the receiver down & lifted it again 5 minutes later the line was still dead. Eventually I had to unplug all my house phones and computers before I could get my line back. I dread to think what this has cost me in scam phone hijacking.
I e-mailed My Offers but got no response. I then e-mailed Walt Disney Resorts and they confirmed they have no such competitions running.
2. An e-mail from another competition website telling me I had "won a competition" through My Offers. I had to go onto this site and register all my details (including date of birth) only to eventually find instructions to ring or text an 090 premium rate number to find out what "vouchers" I had "won". Needless to say, I didn't.
3. Another telephone call. This time telling me I had "won" a holiday through My Offers. All I had to do to claim was ring a freephone number and pay £29.95 per person "booking fee". I asked the caller to give me the website URL for this company. When I looked it up it was the Holiday Bond company - a timeshare organization - and guess what? ANYBODY can book to attend an "exhibition" at one of their resorts at a fee of £29.95. You don't need to win a competition to go to this timeshare sales event.
4. The latest and most disappointing. An e-mail from My Offers tells me I have won £200 in premium bonds. I know I completed a quiz on the My Offers site where this was the prize, so obviously I was delighted. However, when I clicked on the link in the e-mail to enable me to claim my prize it did not work. I e-mailed My Offers - no response, of course. I managed to find a telephone number for them and have been phoning daily ever since. Although the people I have been dealing with are all very friendly they tell me that there was a problem but this is now fixed and the link should be working. It isn't.
I would like to know if anybody else has been unable to claim the prizes My Offers say they have won. My name is appearing on the My Offers website as a "winner". But so far I've won nothing but the opportunity so spend large amounts of time and telephone charges in trying to claim my prize.
