Everything about the pro-elite just screams quality, from the stock design, trigger adjustability, internals and external finish. I'v owned lots of different sprung air rifles over the years. HW's,80's,a 90',theoben's bsa's and webley's, but in all honesty, this air arms Pro-Elite is the overall favorite.
I Can't think of any real bad points unless it's too heavy for you, if that's the case, then eat more meat and work out a bit more. No seriously the weight helps subdue the recoil.
I have owned this pro-elite (.22) for about 10 years. I did try using it with a .177 barrel and that did give a flatter trojectory and faster f.p.s. But for me the .22 was the better combo for hunting. I have experienced this air gun in both cal's and in various stages of tune and myself I would say that it is just as accurate in either. Over the last 2 years though, I have been hunting with a Falcon Raptor 8 shot rifle that is an absolute joy to shoot, and over 5-6 hours of rambling about in woodland I am still able to lift a pint on my way home(getting lazy), so I had'nt been using my old friend the pro-elite at all up untill early hours Saturday moning in complete darkness lamping, as some time ago I had removed the recoil pad from the end of the stock and carefully bored out enough room to accomodate a 7.2 volt nicad radio controlled car battery, push swich and female jack plug. This was done very carefully so as not to spoil any of the original finish to the stock even to the point of inserting a small brass tube around the push swich to make for a nicer finish, only what the rifle deserves! The lamp was a small spot light for a motorcycle that I modified, and I dovetailed a brakett that clamps to the scope with an upsidedown scope mount. This work was carried out around 4 years ago but I had never used the rifle for what I had intended untill now. I knew everything worked but just hadn't used it, and it is fantastic. The scope I'm using is a Tasco 3/9/40 with a broken cross hair, it broke some time ago on the vertical hair mm's above the horizontal, not through any defect but my own neglegence. It's quite nice to use as I find without the full vertical hair I acqire the quarry quicker. Anyway I can conferm 2 kills of the rabbit variety in the same amount of hours and they were a bit thin on the ground. The rifle is still as nice a gun to shoot as my falcon and I will definately be going out during the hours of darkness on a more regular basis. Come to think about it i'll most likely use the pro-elite in daylight more now as well. Thinking back to when the pro-elite was my only choice, I did on one occasion have the pleasure of dispatching 9 squirrals in under 1 hour. This would have been a feat with any air rifle, but I am proud to say it was with my pro-elite. I would highly recomend one of these rifles to anyone for hunting small game such as rabbit, sqirral, game foul and to devestate rat's! (That's only if you can find one,) I did buy the .177 5 years ago, only to try the configeration I spoke about earlier and then it was a struggle to find one. Hopefully this reveiw may be of some help for anyone thinking of becoming a pro-elite owner and I wish you all the luck in finding one. SAFE happy shooting.
