Bad Points
There's nothing really "bad" about any Fender guitar; some years are more consistent than others. Some Strats, USA's included, can have a somewhat uneven tone along the length of the fretboard, caused by misaligned pickups usually. But for the money, you can tweak one any way you want. It's a pro guitar that you can get for $600 any time.
General Comments
It's hard to imagine a better feeling guitar than a Strat, or most any Fender for that matter. My first was a Mustang, and man I wish I had it now. I've had several Fender models, including the Mex Fat Strat and USA I have now, and also a few Gibsons through the years. The only Gibson model I ever played that was close to the Fender's in feel was a 335, and I'll take the Fender bell tones over the humbucker any day; although that one 335 did have a great sound. If I had to have only one guitar, it would be a Strat or Tele. It's hard not to sound good on either one of them. You'll never regret getting a Fender; you will, however, regret letting one go. I'd love to have my '67 or so Surf Green Mustang back.
