well with the 1gb ram upgrade and 1.70GHz, the speed is pretty decent, and the display is ok. the keyboard's sweet too....but thats about it
if you're into games, woe be onto you because the graphic card is sad (played fable on low settings with the antivirus off and it still moved sticky).Hell if the game/movie you're playing demands too much graphically, the system pretty much hangs up or goes into safe mode.depending on your spec choices,if it happens to need a pa-16 charger... THE CHARGER DELL GIVES YOU IS NOT DURABLE AT ALL!!! (trust me, just buy a aftermarket charger and save yourself from having to spend another $60-$80 every 3-5 months). the speakers SUCK! (mine starts cracking when the volume is barely half way up and the right one became pretty much useless after the first 2 months).also it would be nice if it had memory card slots too.
basically, if you're only planning on using it as an overpriced typewriter, or basically focusing on strictly reading stuff, by all means, buy the system. However, for the rest of us who actually take advantage of the things laptops where designed to do, especially those of use who basically use laptops as their home and portable pc... this is NOT for you. In fact, had i known better, or had I not been in such dire need of a laptop at the time, I would have never made such a bad buy. Hell, for a computer that's supposed to be vista capable, if I'm having so many issues with it when its running on xp sp2, i think ill just buy a new laptop if i want to upgrade my OS (like maybe an acer... those are good)
