Good Points

The 6.1 megapixel photos/prints are excellent. Handling the finepix 6900 is so easy - a very good design feature. The overall spec/features are excellent. The colour evf is better than anticipated. Double zoom buttons are useful also.

Bad Points

Ridiculously slow between the taking of an indoor flash shot to the taking of another - between 4 & 7 seconds. Battery life is nowhere near what is stated. Sluggish even outdoors where the taking of a quick action shot, which with a 35mm point & shoot would be so easy, still takes around a second.

General Comments

I am very new to Digital Photography and have very limited experience with conventional cameras. I was very interested in buying a digital camera, having seen the quality rise & price fall.
I read half a dozen magazines before deciding on the Fuji 6900. I thought I had bought the best of the near professional models.
The quality & handling are superb - very easy & light.
The controls, once you master them are a doddle (even for me!) The rear LCD screen is excellent. The print quality onto A4 paper from a 6 megapixel shot is very very good & well worth it.
My main gripes are, which I suppose EVERY digital camera has are the very frustrating delays between actually pressing the button to take a shot & the time it takes to actually capture it. You could be sizing up an all important shot of the kids at the fun fair & you press the button at just the right time to see some other kids in your picture. You have to learn to anticipate about 1 second ahead of the actual photo you wish to take. And as for a quick shot in the dark - this can take forever & I mean it !
By the time the camera works out the auto focus & sets the flash correctly 2 - 3 seconds have passed & if you want to take another quick shot, that will take another 5 - 7 seconds.
One last point - if you're using the camera on a long day out & wish to keep reviewing your snaps, another battery is an absolute MUST.
Don't let me put you off this camera. I have recommended it to friends & colleagues, along with as big a smart card you can afford & another battery.
Downloading straight from the camera to your PC is a doddle.
