General Comments
I've been a subscriber to 1Lit.com's European ezine since it launched in October 2000.
It is sent on the first of every month and fills me in on the latest news and developments in the world of books. There are also short stories, poems, author interviews and reviews of other literary websites. A rather long HTML-only publication, the latest issue is also available to read on their website.
I enjoy 1Lit because the content is incisive, well-written and witty. The publication is unashamedly high-brow; there's no 'dumbed down' content here like in the rest of the British media.
Best of all, the features in the ezine are completely original. The ezine is put together by a team of professional authors and journalists based in London. There aren't any rehashed articles here written by amateur would-be-writers.
There are regular competitions run in association with book publishers and e-tailers and there are some stupendous prizes. I was lucky enough to be one of the winners of their prize draw back in March and received all the top ten bestselling books at WHSmith!
The only gripe I have is that the ezine is only sent to subscribers ten times a year. I wish it was more regular, but I suppose it takes a long time to write and collate.
All in all a most professional publication.
