Ron Gueldner's Review of Beeman GS1000 .22
20th Sep 2003
Overall Rating
- Value for money

The gun is very accurate, even with inexpensive Crossman pellets. It has very good knockdown power.
Bad Points
The trigger pull is poor out of the box. However, if you can operate a screwdriver it is easily changed. The trigger can be adjusted to an acceptable level, never great, but good.
General Comments
I make my living building custom muzzleloaders and feel I am qualified to discuss shooting and guns. Overall I am very impressed with this gun. I use it for hunting and pest control and find it to have excellent knockdown power and accuracy. At 30 yards it routinely gives complete penetration on 1/2" plywood.
Accuracy is very good with midweight pellets. At 50 yards head shots on squirrels are routine. Within 30 yards, you can literally pick which eye to hit.
The scope is good and will shoot to point of aim with very little adjustment.
I have owned many RWS guns, virtually every American made airgun and some Chinese air rifles. For the money you will have to spend about 3x more to get any slight noticeable difference.
This gun outperforms my RWS 48 in .177 in accuracy, knockdown power and silence. Yet it cost 1/2 the price.
When people complain of accuracy, it is often because they do not know how to shoot a SPRING airgun. You do not hold them tightly, as with a centerfire rifle. Rather, they are held very lightly. This is where most people lose the accuracy of the gun. Don't take my word for it, ask any competition SPRING airgun shooter their technique.
The only problem with this gun, is inherrent in all spring guns. You should not carry it cocked. No problem, have a pellet loaded and then cock it when you begin your stalk.
This gun is no custom made rifle, in terms of wood or metal finish. It will however make a great hunting gun with excellent accuracy and is a great deal for the money.
On average, people found this review very helpful
