Car has a great engine, roughly 100 miles/ quarter of a tank , thats in or around 30/40 mpg this is good for a 200bhp car. The looks are fantastic and definitely noticeably different than the sri/sxi. It has a great boot so still particle and a fun drive.
The seats are recaroi but not over the top still comfy as I am a bigger man. And parts are cheap enough and easy to come by.
Handling in the wet is a bit weak, and not a lot better in the dry, the interior is a bit drab but with one or two extras from your local dealer you can jazz it up a little. Its worth paying a bit and uprating the inter cooler to get better drive.
Suspension and electrical faults are commonest. Replace cam belt and brake discs at 40,000 miles.
I have had my Vauxhall Astra Hatchback (98-06) 2.0i Turbo GSi 3dr for about 6 months now,Its a 2003 (53) and done about 47,000 miles.
I brought it form the dealer I work at and it has to be said is a great car, all the tecs who checked it for me said the same thing.
A fun car to drive, I have had a few extras , new sports exhaust, new intercooler to replace the vauxhall weaker standard one, dump valve ect.
But even with those mods its still a great car and not over the top, will easily beat a new VXR.
