If you have any intelligence at all DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM EUROPCAR!
We have hired twice from them and twice have had problems. The first time hired a car to go from London to Edinburgh. We asked the staff in London to show us the best and easiest way to get out of London as we weren't from there. they got out a map and drew on it the route we should take - up oxford St. we queried whether or not you were allowed to drive up there (we had paid congestion, but weren't sure about taxi/bus/contractors only roads) and they said yes, no worries. So headed off and followed their map. about 3 weeks later got a billed for driving up Oxford street - 50 pounds - and europcar's admin fee - 30 Pounds. After they assured us it would be fine.
2nd time we hired a car for the weekend, filled it up before we returned it, but as it was outside opening hours no one was there to check over everything. 2 days later got billed for 47 ltrs fuel as we "returned it empty". so rang them up got put through to 3 different people and was basically told that the only thing they could do was log it and wait 7-10 days to sort out. After another 2 calls and threatening to get lawyers in as we could prove we didnt return empty, to them they credited back the money to our account.
the service was rubbish - I am NEVER hiring from them again
